Founded in 2015, THE SKATESIDE is Southern California’s leading youth skateboarding and roller skating program, designed to empower kids through movement, mentorship, and community. We've introduced the joy of skating to over 10,000 children through our classes, camps, and school programs—and we’re just getting started.
At THE SKATESIDE, we believe skating is more than just a sport. It’s a tool for building confidence, character, resilience, and lifelong friendships. Our programs are safe, inclusive, and developmentally aligned for kids in TK through 10th grade. Whether it’s their first time on a board or they’re ready to level up, kids at THE SKATESIDE get the guidance, encouragement, and fun they need to thrive—on and off wheels.
Our Mission
At THE SKATESIDE, our mission is simple: More Kids Skating.
But it goes deeper than that.
We aim to create safe, welcoming spaces where kids can be themselves, try something new, and build confidence along the way. Through skateboarding and roller skating, we teach life skills like perseverance, self-awareness, and teamwork—all while keeping it fun and age-appropriate.
Every session is an opportunity to grow—physically, emotionally, and socially. We’re not just building better skaters. We’re helping shape strong, resilient, and confident young people ready to roll through life with courage and joy.
About the Founders – Lemar & Elena
THE SKATESIDE was created by husband-and-wife team Lemar and Elena, united by their shared belief in the power of skating to positively impact kids’ lives.
Lemar is a lifelong skateboarder with a deep connection to skate culture and a natural ability to mentor and inspire youth through movement. Elena, a dedicated mother of three, brings warmth, heart, and a strong passion for youth development. Her drive to create enriching, supportive spaces for children comes from lived experience and a deep love for seeing kids thrive.
As parents themselves, Lemar and Elena understand what matters most to families—safety, encouragement, and positive, confidence-building experiences. Together, they’ve built THE SKATESIDE to be more than a skate program: it’s a trusted, welcoming community where kids feel empowered to grow on and off their wheels.
